Nevada Gold Trends

Gateway has nine high quality gold projects which are all strategically located within some of the most prolific gold belts in Nevada.

The state of Nevada is one of the premier gold-producing regions in the world. It is currently producing about 8 million ounces of gold annually and has produced over 100 million ounces in the last twenty years. Eight of the world's largest gold mines were discovered in Nevada between 1985 and 1991.

The development of new geological models has started a new era of gold deposit discoveries, which should continue for many more years.

Jerritt Canyon District

Gateway has several gold projects in the Jerritt Canyon District -- Big Springs, Mac Ridge, Golden Dome, Dorsey Creek and Jack Creek.

The Jerritt Mine has produced over 7.5 million ounces of gold from three deposits and reportedly has another 3 million ounces in reserves and resources. Open pit mining at Jerritt has ceased and presently only underground deposits are being mined.

Jerritt Canyon was discovered in 1972 by Meridian Gold Inc. and in 1976 a joint venture formed with Freeport McMoran Inc. to explore and develop the area. Mining began at Jerritt Canyon in 1981. In 1990, Freeport sold its interest in Jerritt Canyon to Minorco for approximately US$705 million. In 1998, Minorco's North American gold assets including their 70% interest in Jerritt Canyon were sold to AngloGold. In 2003, Queenstake Mining bought 100% interest in Jerritt from AngloGold and Meridian Gold and in June 2007, Queenstake was acquired by Yukon Nevada Gold Corp.

Carlin Trend

The Carlin mine, discovered in 1961 by geologists testing the Tuscarora mountains for finely disseminated gold, was first shown to hold a 3 million ounce gold deposit in 1963 by drill testing. In 1965, Newmont opened the first open pit mine and oxide mill. Later exploration defined the carlin Trend, a fault corridor running 50 miles from the town of Carlin with a width of 5 miles. The Carlin trend contains more than 20 major known gold deposits and is the second most prolific goldfield in the world after South Africa's Witwatersrand district. About 35% of all US gold production comes from the Carlin trend.

Gateway's Carlin East property is favourably located in the Carlin Trend about 3 miles from the Betze-Post gold deposit.

Walker Lane

Gateway's Santa Fe Property is located in southwestern Nevada within the Walker Lane physiographic province. The Walker Lane, one of the prime exploration terrains in Nevada, is host to over 45 million ounces of gold and 436 million ounces of silver. Numerous large deposits occur in the Walker Lane including:

Battle Mountain - Eureka Trend

Gateway's Toiyabe property is located within the Battle Mountain - Eureka Trend. The Battle Mountain - Eureka Trend has produced approximately 23 million ounces of gold over the past 30 years, making it the 2nd most productive belt in Nevada after the Carlin Trend. The Battle Mountain - Eureka Trend hosts several world class mulit-million ounce deposits with Newmont, Barrick and Homestake as operators.
